Honestly surprised that DC flights didn't come back before the Dallas one, but I guess it's probably harder to acquire landing slots in DC than it is Dallas.

I honestly think this is a great thing for Augusta.

DFW is a large hub for American. Dulles isn't and Washington-National is so limited it likely will never have an Augusta flight or offer much in the way of connections.

That gives Augusta direct hub access to American's two largest hubs, one great for going to the western and central part of the country and the other great for the Southern and Northeastern coast of the country.

This will open up many more connection options and decrease travel time for westbound fliers.

This will help make things more competitive between Delta and American.

Your best bet for a permenant Washington flight would be to attract United into the market and allow them to access Dulles as a hub (to attract more fliers on the flight). I think you will face headwinds with that, though. Augusta's market size and wealth will make attracting 3 major hub-based airlines a bit hard. Competition between American and Delta will already drive down fares between themselves making the market less attractive for a 3rd airline.

Augusta Regional is averaging 50,000 passenger's a month. AGS is on pace to surpass 600,000 total passenger's in 2018.

With the addition of the direct flights to Dallas starting next year. The growing cyber industry more than likely bringing the direct flight to DC back soon. 700,000 total passengers could happen before 2021.

I was told by a Delta rep that they would love to add direct flights to DCA from AGS but the problem is the lack of gate space at DCA. That makes sense because it is a rather small airport and Delta has a smaller presence there. Demand is definitely there for direct flights to DC but it may have to be to Dulles or BWI

One option would be if we could get Southwest. They have a hub at BWI. It is actually not that hard to get into DC from BWI. I usually find it much easier to deal with than Dulles.

Right now, the Augusta airport only has 2, one straight to Charlotte and the other to Atlanta. But starting March 3rd they're rolling in another option, Dallas.

Lauren Smith says they're working to add 4 more direct flights. “Of course DC, we're looking at Chicago, New York and somewhere possibly in Central Florida will be perfect for us as well.”

Total passengers using AGS is up 4.71%. AGS is averaging 51,000 passengers a month.

The final number of passengers should land somewhere between 620,000 and 630,000.

Augusta Regional set another passenger record last year. 613,000 total passengers used AGS in the year 2018 compared to 580,000 in 2017(5.6%). Direct flights to Dallas started in March of 2019. There’s no reason to use the Atlanta, or even the Columbia airport.
