Hello Metro Augusta,

Looking for insight and commentary on the characteristics of the following suburban Columbia County high schools and districts:

Lakeside High

Evans High

Greenbrier High

Grovetown High

What are they like? What are they known for? How do they compare?

Thank you for your time and help.

Depends what you are looking for.
My advice is check out some of the websites that provide information such as graduation rates and other details you might be interested in and then make your own decision based on the facts rather than opinions of random people here.

I've got the stats, etc. That part is easy.

Like you said, what I am looking for is the insight and commentary of community members, citizens, parents, and students in Columbia County and Metro Augusta.

In this order:
1. Lakeside
2. Greenbrier (actually it is almost a tie between 1 and 2)
3. Evans
4. Grovetown

State rankings... test scores... graduation rates.. college readiness... Availability of AP classes
Some rankings put Lakeside as the top high school in Columbia County, others place Greenbrier at #1.. either way they usually always rank very close together. A little further down is Evans High and not far behind it is Grovetown High.

Alright. Thank you.

Doesn’t Greenbrier pull in more rural areas than Lakeside? Or, are they equally upper-middle class suburban?

Lakeside pulls from Jones Creek, West Lake and most of the neighborhoods off fury's ferry and Evans to Locks Rd.
Greenbrier pulls from Riverwood, Windmill Plantation, William Few Pkwy, and Hardy McManus.
Both schools draw from pretty affluent areas.
The school digger website can give you rankings and demographic breakdowns for both schools. The Greenbrier area is definitely growing more. From all the rankings O have seen both schools are pretty equal.

If your children want to be in band, Lakeside has a great marching band program. They take it very seriously and place in the top spots at local and state competitions.
