Our daughter lives in Wauconda IL.

We are considering moving to be closer to her in that area.

Our sister in law is in Algonquin IL as well.

We are a retired professional couple. Our previous residences were in upper middle class suburbs in Montreal and St Paul MN, and more presently a gated Pacific north west (WA) golf community with an HOA.

We are having difficulty adjusting to living in a 5000 population backward city, despite residing in the "golf" community.

Budget is up to $750.Home size preferably around 2400 square feet.

We would appreciate any advice on possible locations in the Chicagoland NW suburbs.

Thanks!

Schaumburg, South Barrington and Arlington Heights would all be good options.

Do a search on realtor.com based on Wauconda or Algonquin. Expand the search out 20 miles or as far as you are willing to live from your family. You can put lots of parameters in the search, price range, single or two story, house size, lot size, etc. You will see lots of houses for sale. Find out what the property tax rates are in each location, they vary a lot and some are very high. It's always a good idea to have a realtor show you the homes and surrounding areas. It helps a lot that you have family to give you input.

If you go east of Wauconda, you are closer to Lake Michigan. If you go north, there are lakes in the Fox Lake area. If you go south, you are closer to the city.
