Peace to you as the light returns!
My daughter and I are in Costa Rica for the holiday this year. Last night at 9:28 CST we welcomed the Solstice and talked a bit about what we do not want to bring into the new light.
This idea came from an Internet friend from years ago who told me she would host a Solstice party at which they would build a bonfire and write down on paper that which they wanted to leave behibd--could be a habit, a sorrow, an anxiety, something they needed to jettison, and then toss the paper into the fire. We just did that without the paper and fire.
I don't know about bread and salt. Can you share the meaning of this tradition? Thank you.
Interestingly, so close to the equator, the difference in daylight is not so great here. Today sunrise was at 5:47, and sunset is at 5:23.
On the summer Solstice, it will be 5:18 and 5:58.
Very different from Ontario, Canada, where I spent my last winter Solstice.
