You don't have to worry about MD appearing to be pro-business, because MD was never in the game.

...then why did you write 30 paragraphs about how "[t]he only play left for Leonsis is MD?"

Are you predicting DC will become part of Maryland again?

Hopefully the trend continues. The rest of the country has seen crime plummet since the 2020 spike; it's about time DC caught up.

There's still a perception. If one of the main reasons restaurants and other business are closing is crime, that's new. I've lived in the DMV all my life and businesses closing due to crime is not normal.

If crime is going down, then there is a disconnect in perception.

There's a "but" in there. Yes, crime rates have dropped since the Covid highs but they're still, overall, higher than before it. Just like inflation, the annual rate is down but the higher prices caused by the high inflation of the last couple or three years are now baked into prices.

Crime, or the perception of it, is one piece. Included would be much higher costs across the board and the inability to raise prices to reflect that, fewer people Downtown, the overall cost of living rising means people have to make choices on what they buy. Necessities come first.

It’s the media. They need you to click their articles. DC is booming adding 8,023 new residents last year alone.
