It had been rumored for a while that Aloft might.........might......build a 12-story convention center hotel. That seemed a bit odd, anyway, considering that Aloft generally doesn't build anything quite that high. So, now, the other site considered for a 12-story hotel tower would be Sheraton, since that franchise is no stranger to mid-rise or high-rise hotel construction.

As for Aloft, that's great news for the West End.

James Arnold Says Lubbock Economy As Good As It's Ever Been

Short summary: economy not as red-hot as it was six months ago, but fundamentals still are good. Doesn't think that the restaurant industry is saturated, as some have claimed. University area doesn't shut down in summer like it used to, thanks to larger summer attendance and the Overton Park redevelopment.

Also, (Case44 might like this,) Dallas area-based Razzoo's Cajun Cafe is putting up a location at the Restaurant Row center on S Loop 289.
