These threads tend to get dominated by the cherry picked listings that are probably out of the norm for that "zomg look at how much or how little $XYZ gets you in my area" effect.
Here are what I would say is "most typical" for what you'd see in that price range in Raleigh some of the various areas/lifestyles.
Typical Downtown Condo:

Typical "Inside the Beltline" Bungalow (needs some updating; a "magazine-worthy" updated version of this house would easily be in the $600k range; it's only going to be fixer-uppers in this price range in that area): Moderator cut: link removed, competitor site

True for the most part but no cherry picking from me. My first post was for a pretty desirable suburb in Houston, though the schools aren't great. Go a couple miles down and they're fabulous.
