Finding a house in Denver for this price is basically impossible. You can find a decent townhouse or condo. Possibly a fixer upper in an undesirable neighborhood but even that is a big stretch and you need ar least 500k for a fixer upper. I did find a cute little bungalow of 887 square feet at that price but it will probably go for more than asking price.

$400k is impossible in the city of Seattle for a single family house or townhouse. You might get away with a small 2 bdrm condo, but the assessment fees are usually sizeable also.

A decent SFH in a relatively nice neighborhood of Seattle is easily $1.2M and up. The Eastside suburbs of Seattle are even more expensive.

That $400,000 is just beautiful at that price, and the taxes are incredible at $2500. I wonder what your services are like and the schools? The appreciation is good too, since it was purchased for $225,000 in 2007.

Here is what is available for around $400,000 where I live, being sold probably for the lot (tiny but buildable 50x123)But at least you can buy something.................

It’s why I love the midwest.
Still seems overpriced like everywhere else though.

$225k in Boston gets you this: https://www.redfin.com/MA/Boston/131...urce=Patch.com

$400k will get you 1br/1ba and about 627 square feet: https://www.redfin.com/MA/Boston/110...2/home/9051949

Honestly, that's not awful for Boston. It's small and dated, but I could see that on the market for $100k more a few years ago.
