Such as gunning their own motors to speed around in front of the noisemakers, even cutting them off.

Anything that creates anger and resentment on the roadways needs to be minimized somehow. I think it may seem worse in MD because the roads do get really crowded at certain times of day.
Arlington County is proposing to fine owners of such. Let's hope many others follow suit.

No! Terrible.

Were they to enforce everything already on the books there would be no traffic.

I grew up with loud exhausts, and had a few myself.

Like all the leaf blower noise, it’s just a thing that happens and blends into the background. I don’t like fartcans on Hondas, but meh, it’s fine, really.

The point is, leaf blower noise is necessary for practical reasons and no one manipulates it to purposely annoy others.

Enhanced exhaust noises however.........are enhanced for no practical or necessary reason UNLESS ego boosting is a necessity for messed up minds. And I doubt that it works for long.

The state of California, plus several cities around the country including DC and MoCo have banned
gasoline-powered leaf blowers. Battery and lecky only.

Not really. A free-flowing exhaust can raise power. It can also be done wrong to where it negatively affects power. Also, the saying “loud pipes save lives” for motorcyclists is actually, sadly, true. Every single quiet motorcycle I’ve had ended up almost eliminating people trying to change lanes into me after adding a louder exhaust.

I’ll admit that my high school car was too loud for no good reason. But I usually enjoy hearing my and other engines.

To answer your other post, I’ve driven in FL (terrible drivers too imo). Up and down the east coast pretty much.I’ve driven in Boston, not extremely terrible drivers there, I think MD drivers are worse.
I'm born and raised in the Boston area and so was my husband. We both agree that MA has the worst drivers. I've lost count of those who ran red lights even when a pedestrian was trying to cross the street. Once I saw a driver speed through a red light and T-bone a car that had the right of way. When I was in HS, a friend and I were crossing at a busy intersection when a drunk driver ran the light and hit us both. I didn't start driving until we moved to VA, which wasn't long after my husband got his DL in MA. Ironically, the driving test to get one's license was tougher in MA. It made the driving test I took in VA look like a joke.

Noisiest place I ever lived was Chesapeake Beach, MD. Trucks and noisy cars. Outrageous. Epic.

Second noisiest is Annandale, VA. Certain groups of people use their horn as a regular part of driving.

OP stirred the pot and then ran. Any place big on cars NC/SC for example will have their share of tricked out loud cars ,that or anywhere near a high school.
