Did you know the driver of that car, George Weiss, was the owner of WBBQ? I can see him now with a stoogie hanging out of his mouth taking on his CB radio to the station with the police monitor going full blast.

As teenagers we used to play "find car 1" on slow nights. When he would come on with an accident report the game was to get to the scene as fast as you could. First one there won bragging rights and a nod from Mr Weiss. I imagine we might have created a little extra business for him with our antics.

Anderson's had the highest slide in town. Misty Waters had the coldest water. You could aways tell the girls at Butler who were bleached blonde because the cholrine at Lombards would turn their hair green.

I listen to Kim Komando's show every weekend. I think she is great and I once got the nicest email back from her.....loved this bit of trivia.

And to DUSTY RHODES....yay ! for boiled peanuts ! I do my own when I can find GREEN peanuts. They make the best ones. And, yes, you do sometimes get funny looks from people that are not from the south and some really, really like them(peanuts)...LOL.

I was born in 1977 and grew up in Martinez 1979-1995 and now live only a hour or so away. I Loved reading this thread and seeing all the memories. I learned a lot, there is a lot I did not know about or remember, or was too young or not born yet.

I loved the dollar theater at Columbia Square. I walked there at times, and it was so close to my house.

I loved Fat Man's Forrest too, only went there a few times.

Regency Mall was so cool. I remember seeing movies there- kid's movies during the summer. I remember seeing Santa at both malls growing up.

I liked Krystal River as well.

I liked the Buffalo Farm on Wrightsboro Road in Grovetown, and liked visiting there.

I LOVED Showbiz Pizza as a kid and going to parties and with family and friends. Chuck E Cheese came in, and was good, but not nearly as good or cool.

On a side note, I liked Augusta Pirate games, even if the Heaton stadium was not too great. I sat behind visitor's bullpen, and chatted with pitchers. Some may have made it big. I got to meet Pete Smith making a rehab assignment with Macon. We got to meet a young Chipper Jones signing autographs. Dave Justice sold the place out in 1991.

I have sadly never been to Lake Olmstead Stadium, and hope I can one day.

The Buffalo Farm had to be one of the coolest places ever in Augusta. I remember going there back in the '90s, and loved it every time.

Rehashing this tread . So, I don't start a new one. Is Fat Man's Forrest is open? I can't find it address anywhere via the net. Has it closed or changed names?

No, it's closed. GHSU bought the property and razed the building, the land will eventually be used for dorms. The Fat Man's Cafe is still open though, located at the Enterprise Mill.
